Terms of Services & Professional Boundaries

Inclusivity

All clients are welcome and will be respected, regardless of their age, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, race, religion, socio-economic status or body type. Clients will always be treated with the utmost respect, consideration, dignity. Privacy and confidentiality are maintained at all times. Intake forms are gender inclusive. Our tables are size inclusive one meter width with a weight limit of well over 220kg.

Communication

As a practitioner, I am available to my clients via email or WhatsApp messaging Monday through Friday 10am to 6pm. I will respond at my first opportunity to any messages sent outside of those hour and I will do my due diligence to return calls, texts or emails within 24 hours on business days. Should I ever be taking extended time away from my practice; travel updates will be posted to my instagram account.

Cancellation

If cancellation is required, please allow for at least 24 hours notice. When there is a cancellation within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment, the client will be responsible for payment of 50% of the appointment to cover the cost of the rental space. Emergency cancellations are determined with Makia’s discretion, the only time this is considered or waived is in the case of serious illness, extreme weather or other unavoidable circumstances. If Makia is unable to attend a session for any reason she will communicate with you and offer you to reschedule a time that works for you or suggest a time. If you do not wish to reschedule due to Makia's unavailability for the time you originally booked, She will issue a refund for this session. Thank you for understanding.

Ethics of Care

All sessions are carried out by myself, Makia Mullen, the therapist and practitioner. I will not and do not diagnose illness, disease, mental or physiological disorders, prescribe medical treatment or pharmaceuticals. Nor do I in any way attempt to perform the functions of a medical doctor or primary-care practitioner. Clients must agree to accurately inform the practitioner of the status of their health, and agree to keep them updated of any current changes in their health or well-being. By booking an appointment, one is giving the practitioner full permission to facilitate an intake interview, therapeutic treatment, and the post treatment protocols to ensure the highest standards of care. Both client and practitioner will be fully present during each session and never under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Sessions will be canceled or terminated at the practitioner’s discretion. As a practitioner, If I am unable to perform services for which I am not qualified (both physically or emotionally) I will refer clients to the appropriate specialists whenever work is not within my scope of practice or within the best interest of my client. Any illicit or sexually suggestive advances or remarks will result in the immediate termination of the session and any future bookings with no obligation to return payment as a result.

Hygiene

Please arrive in compliance with the highest hygiene standards appropriate for receiving a treatment. Please let the therapist know if you have any active infections, illnesses, contagious health conditions or any health concerns that necessitate modifying or declining your session. I see clientele with auto-immune conditions and undergoing immune compromising treatments; if you are ill please be considerate of my own personal well-being as well as the other clients entering the treatment room after you.

Privacy Policies

Your privacy is of the utmost importance to me and I am committed to the highest standards of ethical practice in relation to confidentiality, which includes respecting and protecting your privacy. Any data collected is done so in order to safely and satisfactorily provide my services or products to you. I will hold all personal data responsibly and in strict confidence. The policies are detailed below.

  • Name, email address and phone number. I do not send newsletters, promotion emails or text messages. Any personal data collected is solely for communication purposes regarding appointments, bookings and follow-up after sessions.

  • If you become a client of mine through 1:1 sessions, I will take relevant details during our sessions to enable me to deliver the best possible service and care to you. Any notes that are made during the sessions can be sent to you in a PDF format. All electronically stored session notes are in a password-protected storage that is GDPR security compliant and built for peace of mind. This includes groundbreaking privacy protection features, enterprise-grade infrastructure and certification with the most widely accepted security and privacy regulations worldwide. Your data is safe. Regarding client-data, I am required under the terms and conditions of my professional insurance to keep client data for seven years after our work has been completed. After this time the records will be destroyed.

  • If you make an enquiry about my services, I will have your email and if we arrange to speak, I will take your phone number and relevant details during our conversation. Any notes I make electronically will not identify you. If you choose not to go ahead with 1:1 sessions any notes or forms taken during the discovery call or intake process will be deleted. If you choose to have 1:1 sessions with me, see this next section which details what happens with your data.

  • I will use your email for purpose of communication in-between sessions. I will only contact you via phone or text with your express preference or agreement. When you schedule an online session, the scheduling software sends confirmations and reminders via text unless you opt out of this.

  • A record of transactions and payments from you will be retained for billing and insurance purposes. No credit card details will be retained, all payments are taken by Revolut, PayPal, Bank transfer or Square card for your safety.

  • Purpose of collection is to provide products to you to fulfill our contract of order, to process your payment information, arrange for shipping, and provide you with invoices and/or order confirmations, communicate with you, screen our orders for potential risk or fraud. I will never utilise your information to provide you with information or advertising regarding products.
